FAQs

01

What materials do you use for soundproofing, and what are their benefits?

We use high-quality vibration and soundproofing materials such as bitumen mats, acoustic felt, and foam rubber. These materials effectively reduce vibrations and noise while being durable and resistant to temperature changes.

02

How does soundproofing affect a car’s weight and performance?

Soundproofing materials add weight to the car, typically between 20 to 50 kg, depending on the extent of the work. However, this has minimal impact on performance while significantly enhancing driving comfort and noise reduction.

03

Can soundproofing be applied to specific parts of the car, such as doors or wheel arches?

Yes, we can apply soundproofing to specific areas like doors, wheel arches, or the trunk. This is a more budget-friendly option, but for the best results, full soundproofing is recommended.

Car Soundproofing & Vibration Damping

Car soundproofing and vibration damping reduce unwanted road noise, squeaks, and vibrations coming from the doors, wheel arches, trunk, roof, and floor of your vehicle.

The result is a quieter and more comfortable cabin where you can enjoy high-quality music, have clearer phone conversations, or simply drive in silence.

At Brooklands Detailing, soundproofing is performed as a professional multi-stage process. We select the right combination of materials for each area of the vehicle and apply them with precise disassembly, surface preparation, and reassembly.

Areas We Soundproof

  • Doors and interior panels: Reduce external noise and improve cabin sealing.
  • Floor and underbody: Minimize road noise, suspension sounds, and vibrations while improving thermal insulation.
  • Trunk: Reduce noise from the rear suspension, exhaust system, and wheel arches.
  • Wheel arches and inner fenders: One of the most effective areas for reducing road noise.
  • Roof and ceiling: Reduce noise from rain, external impact, and improve heat insulation.
  • Hood: Helps reduce engine noise when combined with engine bay treatment.
  • Dashboard: Reduces internal vibrations and improves overall cabin acoustics.

Soundproofing Materials

At Brooklands, we use genuine soundproofing materials from Comfort Mat, known for durability, acoustic performance, and long manufacturer warranties.

Professional soundproofing is not based on one universal material. It requires a layered system that may include:

  • vibration damping materials
  • sound insulation layers
  • sound absorbers
  • anti-squeak materials
  • combined materials for specific areas

The exact combination is selected individually depending on the vehicle, body structure, vibration load, and the area being treated.

Premium Soundproofing Solution

At Brooklands Detailing, we use a premium soundproofing solution based on Comfort Mat D-Line materials. This advanced vibration-damping system is designed for areas with high vibration loads and provides excellent acoustic performance while keeping the added vehicle weight lower than standard solutions.

Comfort Mat D-Line uses premium D-formula materials and multi-stage low-temperature mixing technology, combined with HotAl aluminum foil and InFliz technology. This structure helps reduce vibrations, road noise, and resonance while improving overall cabin comfort.

Compared to standard soundproofing materials, the Premium solution adds approximately 30 kg to the vehicle — around 35% lighter than conventional alternatives — while maintaining high efficiency.

Full vehicle soundproofing usually takes around 7 working days, depending on the vehicle type and scope of work.

Soundproofing Process

Each part of the vehicle requires its own approach. The process includes careful disassembly, cleaning, degreasing, precise application of insulation layers, and safe reassembly.

  1. Inspection: we assess the vehicle structure, noise sources, and areas that require treatment.
  2. Disassembly: interior panels, trims, wheel arch liners, and other components are carefully removed.
  3. Surface preparation: all surfaces are cleaned, degreased, and dried before material application.
  4. Material application: vibration damping, sound insulation, sound absorbing, and anti-squeak materials are applied in the correct order.
  5. Reassembly: all parts are carefully installed back to avoid damage, gaps, or new squeaks.
  6. Final inspection: we check the quality of installation and ensure that all treated areas are properly assembled.

Soundproofing Work Stages

Why Professional Soundproofing Matters

DIY soundproofing often leads to inconsistent results because of incorrect material selection, poor surface preparation, or improper installation. During disassembly and reassembly, interior parts can also be damaged if the process is not handled professionally.

Professional installation ensures that each material is applied in the right place, in the right order, and without overloading the vehicle. This is especially important for premium cars, where interior panels, clips, trims, and electronic components require careful handling.

Result

Proper soundproofing can reduce cabin noise levels by up to 50%, depending on the vehicle and selected scope of work.

The result is a significantly quieter cabin, improved driving comfort, better thermal insulation, reduced vibration, and a more refined driving experience.
